Plodding On

Tuesday 7th June, 2011

I'm still plodding on.  I just want my house back to normal and not the mess that it is in.  I can't see how people can live in messy houses like someone I know (no names mentioned).  It is alright for a couple of days but to live in it day after day........ugh!!!

I got the display cabinets emptied, cleaned and washed all the glasses and ornaments.  When Tony came home he cleaned the oven and washed the ceilings and walls in the kitchen and dining room area.

I can't see this cleaning being finished by Friday.  As Monday is a public holiday here, Tony said it was alright to have the carpet steam cleaner for the extra day if need be.  I think we are going to need it.

A New Week

Monday 6th June, 2011

Well, I wonder what exciting things today will bring.  Oh, that's right more cleaning.  Hopefully this will be the last week of the 'spring' cleaning.

I managed to get the ironing done today, more washing, cleaned the DVD cabinets, finished up the spare bedroom and sorted through some stuff in the family room.

I didn't go shopping tonight, thought I would use some of the food we have got in the pantry and fridge, so tonight I made a tuna mornay.

When Tony came home, and after dinner, he cleaned the hotplates and we cleaned out the fridge.  Seeing I do that regularly throughout the year it wasn't too bad.  He was going to wash the ceilings and walls in the kitchen, but it was getting too late, so we're leaving that until tomorrow night.

Can I Just Stay in Bed?

Sunday 5th June, 2011

You have no idea how much I just wanted to rollover in bed this morning and go back to sleep.  Instead I got up, Tony helped me fold some laundry, we cleaned up the kitchen benches and started to empty out the pantry.

Oh dear, you just don't realise what you have in there.  Everything seems to get shoved to the back and when you look at it there is food stuffs in there with expiry dates dating back to 2004.  We threw out bags and bags of food, half empty bottles of sauces, oils and packet jellies, puddings and such.

While doing that Tori and her friend Daniel, came over.  Lucky they did, as they took a whole lot of food (not expired) home with them.  I also found a box of glasses and so Daniel was quite happy to have them as he is sharing a house with a mate.

After they left we got back into it.  From the pantry we moved to the cupboards.  Seeing we had only done the cupboards about a year ago, I didn't think we would have much to throw out.  How wrong was I!  We got a box full of gear plus a garbag.  Tori and Daniel left too early....lol.

By the time we were finished Tony and I were both exhausted.  As it was getting close close to dinner time we called it a day and spent the night relaxing, watching TV.

Finally, I Can Pick Up The Doors

Saturday 4th June, 2011

This morning I was up early ready for the new day.  Our plans for today were to go and pick up the doors for the DVD cabinets, call into Robyn and Bobs' and then home to tackle more of the cleaning.  Soon after Tony got up he got a phone call and had to go into work as there was an emergency.

I stayed home while he went in and got myself ready for when he got back.  I rang Katie to see how she was feeling.  She sounded croaky but said she was starting to feel much better.  Just us doing the cleaning sounded boring to her so she decided not to come over......lol.

When Tony got back we left and called into Robyn's first as they were planning on going out later in the afternoon.  I had to drop off her cleaning products I got for her plus some other things I found while cleaning.

When we left there we went and had a sandwich and coffee and then went and got the doors.  They looked great!!!  I am so happy with them.  I also went to Ned's and got some flowers (roses) for the big vase that's in the hallway.

We came home and started to finish off the hallway.  We got the pictures hung, and the curtains put back up.  Uh-oh I think I have to get some new curtains, these are starting to rot.  They get the afternoon sun on them and since that's when the sun is at it's hottest, I suppose they will eventually start to deteriorate.......still not bad for the 17 years they've hung there.

Tony put the new doors on the cabinets and they look better than the original ones.   At least if the glass ever shatters in these we will be able to replace the glass.

I Wish The Cleaning Fairy Would Come And Help

Friday 3rd June, 2011

Uh-oh I am quickly losing interest in this cleaning caper.  I have no interest in doing anything at the moment but I know I will have to get my backside into gear and get moving if I want it finished by next Friday so that Tony can clean the carpets over the weekend.

The weather is still not too bad.  Not as nice as the last couple of days but we are expecting rain later on this afternoon.  Later on I have to go out and meet Tony then go and pick up Katie.  Looking forward to seeing her again.

I got a phone call from Kahra and apparently Katie has come down with the flu.  She is not feeling too well and so it looks as if she won't be coming this weekend after all.  She went to school today because there was something going on there that she didn't want to miss and so Kahra is going to see how she feels when she comes homes and will ring us if she is OK and she still wants to come.

Well we didn't get the phone call from Kahra and so we haven't got Katie.  I will ring her tomorrow to see how she is feeling.  The last thing I want is for her to stay over and give us a cold when I still have this cleaning to finish.

**Ooops forgot to post yesterday!

Enjoying The Sun While It Lasts

Thursday 2nd June, 2011

Who said it was winter?  Yesterday and today, even after the cold start to the mornings, we have had the most lovely weather.  Today the temperature got to somewhere near 20 degrees.  But that's where it ends.  Rain tomorrow and then again over the weekend with the temperatures dropping down to the low teens........brrrr.

Seeing it was so nice outside I got to finish washing the windows in the courtyard and gave the courtyard a clean up.  Tony, had taken the front security door off and so I gave that a wash as well.

By the time I had finished, which was late in the afternoon, I was totally exhausted.  Luckily I had put dinner in the slow cooker before I started.

Tonight I felt like doing nothing.  Poor Tony, after coming home from work, having dinner, doing the dishes, he continued on with a bit of the cleaning.  We still need to get the hallway pictures cleaned and hung back up as well as the curtains.

Oh well there's always tomorrow and it looks as if we will be having Katie for the weekend so maybe we can get her to help us.

Winter Has Begun!!

Wednesday 1st June, 2011

Oh boy!!  The first day of Winter and this morning was the coldest 1st June morning in more than 68 years.  The temperature was 3.7 degreesC.  When the alarm went off, Tony got up for work, but I just rolled over and snuggled with the blankets.

Let's hope the next three months fly by and then we'll be into Spring.  Can't wait!!!

Today was a relatively quiet day cleaning wise.  I had a hair appointment this afternoon so I didn't get too involved in anything much.  All the excess rubbish has somehow ended up in the family/dining room so I had a sort out there.  It was stuff that we didn't know what to do with at the time.  Anyway most of it has gone into the rubbish.

Tonight, Tony washed the ceiling and walls in the hallway.  I love the bareness of the walls, maybe I won't hang the pictures back up.  With no curtains up at the courtyard windows the hallway looks bright and airy.

I am starting to see a light at the end of the tunnel.  Another week or so and this cleaning should all be finished.  Yahoooooo!!!
