Another perfect day in Paradise. A beautiful day again here in Adelaide. Normally that catchcry is reserved for the state of Queensland, but we can't help but feel for them at the moment, they are having so much rain which is causing a lot of flooding.
Today they are expecting Rockhampton to become inundated with flood waters from the rising Fitzroy River. So much of Queensland is now underwater, they say the area flooded is bigger than Victoria and half of New South Wales combined.
We also may experience some flooding here due to all this water coming down and into the River Murray. The river is already rising at some places, like Blanchetown. We will have to take a trip up to Renmark and see what it's like up there. I have vague memories of the last big flood of 1956....I was only very young growing up in Renmark back then.
With these floods in Queensland we are going to be affected with the produce that is grown there. Prices will rise due to the shortage of many fruits and vegetables, not to mention cotton, sugar and even the mining of coal. All have been affected by these floods.
I love a sunburnt country,
A land of sweeping plains,
Of ragged mountain ranges,
Of droughts and flooding rains.
I love her far horizons,
I love her jewel-sea,
Her beauty and her terror –
The wide brown land for me!
verse from "My Country' by Dorothea McKellar
From the Lens.......turn right at the roundabout
