A Day At Greenhills

Saturday 8th January, 2010

After a not so good night with Katie, "her tummy felt dizzy", we slept in finally getting up around 8.30am.
Katie slept even longer.  When she finally got up she asked "What are we doing today Nanna?"
"What would you like to do?" I asked her.  She put her head in her hands and said, "I don't know what we can do, when I come to your place we do so much."

I suggested perhaps we could go down to Victor Harbor and to Greenhills Adventure Park.  We hadn't done that yet with her and the last time we went down there was years ago .....like maybe 30.  She was jumping around, "Yes, Yes", she squealed and ran off to tell Tony what we were going to do.

There were no dramas in her having her hair washed and showered this morning.  Firstly we had to go and do some shopping, which I didn't get done last night, and pick up the dry cleaning.

Then we were off.  Victor Harbor would be at least a 90 minute drive from where we are.  We occupy ourselves by either playing eye spy, or we have to sing a song from the Ipod and then rate each other as to who sang the best.  Even Tony got applause for his singing of "Lucky Lips", and he has the worst voice ever!

Greenhills has changed over the years (or from what I can remember).  Katie wanted to have a go on the go karts, and when she finished reckoned she now deserved her licence as she didn't have any accidents.  But when the time was up and they had to come into the pits, she slowed down and crashed into the kart in front of her.  Tony said, "you were supposed to use your brake, the red pedal".  "Oh, I didn't use that one", she replied.  We know!

Then it was off to the dry slide (using bags), had a few slides on the water slide and then to the paddle boats, archery, flying fox and the rest of the afternoon was spent on the water slide.  A great time was had.

Note the fingers....lol

Other activities to do down there is mini golf, rock wall climbing, canoeing, moon bikes, having a picnic with plenty of BBQ's supplied, half court tennis.  Definitely a place to go back to.

Went into Victor Harbor to get some dinner  but then decided to go onto Port Elliott where we got some fish and chips and steak sandwich.  What a busy shop that is.....waited well over 30 minutes  for it to be ready.

Went back into Victor and ate it by the amusement area.  Had a walk around there, Katie had a couple of rides on the Spinner, Tony and I had coffee and then we headed for home.

While out Tony had a couple of calls from Security re an alarm that was showing up at work, so we had to call in there on the way back.  We took Katie for a 'cruise' down Hindley Street, or 'the naughty street' as she calls it.  It is the strip for the Nightclubs and so a lot of trouble happens there caused mainly by alcohol.   Finally got home around 10.45 p.m, tired but happy after a fantastic day.

Australia has a Royal Princess.  Her name is Crown Princess Mary of Denmark, married to Crown Prince Frederik, and this morning, Denmark time, she gave birth to twins, a boy and a girl.  They already have a boy, Christian 5, and a girl Isabella 3.  Mary was born in Tasmania and she and Frederik met during the Sydney Olympic Games.  She often comes back to Australia to spend time with her family.

From the Lens............a most interesting house at Port Elliott
