Seeing it's the first Tuesday in November today is the running of the Melbourne Cup. This race gets the attention of just about every Australian.
There will be lots of Cup Luncheons, sweeps will be held in just about every office and the die hard horse racing enthusiasts will go to a race track. Even those who like to dress up, either fashionably or just crazy will go to a race track.
Tony, again has been invited to a Cup Luncheon. He is going to the Hilton Hotel. He went there last year too and said that he hopes the food is better this year.
Well the race has been run and the winner this year is Dunaden. It was the closest finish in the Cup's history. Red Cadeaux finished a whisker behind.
I rang Tony to see how his lunch went and he said that the food was much better this year. He asked for his lamb to be cooked well done and it was. The soup, apple and asparagus, was served in a shot glass. They had a small teaspoon with which to eat it, one mouthful and it was gone.
Entree was 3 Prawns with a salad, main course was Lamb with potatoes and onion and dessert was Pecan Pie. He had three horses in the sweep but they didn't come anywhere.
