A Teeny Weeny Hint Of Spring

Tuesday 24th July 2012

We had some lovely weather over the weekend, none of the forecast rain eventuated.  Instead we had sunny days, no wind and temperatures in the mid teens.  Now they are forecasting rain for Wednesday and the rest of the week.  We'll see!

Katie was dropped off at our house on Saturday morning.  After she came the plumber showed up to deliver a new toilet that we had ordered.  He said he would come back on Tuesday to install it.  We went off to do some shopping, I wanted to go to Gaganis Bros to have a look.  They sell mainly continental food, plus an array of catering items like plates, cups, serviettes etc and kitchenware.

Katie decided that she needed some new sneakers to keep at our place and so we went and had a look for some.  I wasn't prepared to pay a lot for them, she only wears them when she comes to stay, but she found some (Mitre) for $15.

When we got home I made a "Curry in a Hurry"  with mashed potato for dinner.  I used a BBQ chicken.  Katie enjoyed it.  The recipe calls for frozen vegetables but I prefer to use fresh so I add capsicum, carrots, spinach, broccoli, zucchini, celery and peas.

Katie ended up going to bed early as she was excited for Sunday.  Tony and I didn't watch all of the racing from the Tour as we had to be up early.

Sunday morning we were up early and around 9.00am Robyn and Bob came.  We were off to Disney on Ice. This was the first time that Robyn and Bob had gone to see it and Katie was excited that they were coming too.  This year I got tickets for the morning session (11.00am) as that had the best seats available when I booked back in May.

Disney, titled "Let's Celebrate", was one of the better Disney's this year.  We all enjoyed it, even Bob and Robyn.  While waiting to go in Joan (Luke's mum) came over to talk to us.  She had brought Phoebe (Dianne's granddaughter) with her and was with her daughter and two grandsons.

After Disney we wanted to get some lunch.  While walking back to the car we passed two hotels but neither were offering Sunday lunch.  We went for a drive looking for the Brompton Hotel but ended up at the Excelsior Hotel.  What a revelation!  We had the nicest lunch, Bob was very impressed with their Wagyu Beef.  Definitely a place to remember and one to go back to again.

After lunch we headed down to Largs for an icecream and coffee and also for Katie to play on the playground.  Tony, Bob and Katie went for a walk along the jetty, it is now open after the renovation.  They said a few people were fishing and one guy was wanting to catch some garfish.  Tony said it was a bit breezy and nippy at the end of the jetty.

Soon it was time to take Katie to meet her mum and then for us to go home.  Robyn and Bob left soon after.  I managed to stay awake for the last stage of  the Tour De France.  It was a day for the British riders,  Mark Cavendish won the sprint on the Champs-Elysees, and Bradley Wiggins won the coveted yellow jersey with Chris Froome second.

Just after lunch today, the plumber showed up to install the new toilet.  We opted for a Caroma Easy Height, it's a bit higher than the old one.  Just goes to show, old age is creeping, no, fast approaching us now.  Hopefully it will ease the pressure on our old achy knees and sore backs.
