Is This It?

Tuesday 3rd December, 2013

I wonder if this is it!!  Retirement!!  Tony finished work on Friday.  He had to work over the weekend as it was the annual shutdown and they asked him to help out.

Both Saturday and Sunday he put in long hours, nearly 12 hours both days and so yesterday he felt he needed a day to do nothing.  He ended up making several phone calls that were needed and so today we start a new chapter in our lives......(fingers crossed).

It's hard to believe that we are nearing the end of 2013.  Where has this year gone?  I know it's an old cliche but this year has flown by.  I'm hoping that 2014 will slow down.

If Tony doesn't go back to work (which he doesn't want to), I have a lot of adjusting to do.  I only worked for the first 4 years of our married life and so for the past 37 years I have been home.  I am so used to being on my own doing my own thing, I have never had to answer to anyone.

Now I have to get used to having an early breakfast, some days my brekkie would be at 10-10.30 and lunch (if I felt like it) would be around 2.00pm.  I rarely drank coffee or tea during the day (unless I was out), preferring to have a glass of water, but Tony asks me every hour or so if I want a coffee.

Oh well it will take a bit of time to get used to having him home all day but we will eventually get ourselves into a routine.  At the moment it's like he is on holidays.

I think I'm gonna love having him home......but come back in a few months and see how I feel then...........Bwahahahaha!!!

  1. It certainly does take a while to get used to having the hubby home all the time. But with a little give and take, it works out just fine. It won't be long before Tony has himself a new routine to fill his days. After a few days with nothing to do, most guys go looking for things to fill a good part of their days. Of course, he might just be happy lying in a hammock or his nice new chair and enjoying the rest. I surely hope that 2014 slows down just a bit too so that I can enjoy more of it. You have a wonderful day, hugs, Edna B.
