No Cherries But A Couple Of Jobs Get Done

Sunday 25th November, 2012

Weather wise the weekend was perfect.  It was warm, great weather to get out and about.  Tony had planned to wash the car and also the pond needed a good clean out.

On Saturday after Tony finished cleaning the pond we decided to go for a drive in the Hills to see if any cherries were for sale.  The Cherry Shed at Kenton Valley was open but unfortunately had no cherries.  They weren't going to start picking theirs until this coming week they said.  We had a coffee and scones instead while there.

We thought we'd try a few other places but Tony being Tony decided to take a road that we've never been on "just to see where it goes".  Needless to say it took us nowhere near where the cherries are grown.  It ended up being a back road to Nairne.

By now it was getting too late to go looking for cherries and so we made our way back to Adelaide.  On the way home we decided to go to the movies.  I wanted to see "Argo".  We ended up going to the Picaddilly Cinemas at North Adelaide.  Firstly we had something for dinner....we tried an all you can eat Chinese Restaurant.  We weren't impressed, the food wasn't very fresh, looked like leftovers from lunch.  We had a voucher and so it cost us $24 each, normally $32.90.  No way was it worth that much.

The movie was fantastic!  It had us on the edge of our seats most of the time.  One movie I highly recommend for people to go and see.  It's about the American hostages and the escape of 6 people who worked at the American Embassy in Iran in the early 1980's.

Today Tony washed the car and the rest of the day was spent lazing about.  Another weekend over and done with which means it's getting closer to Christmas.....4 weeks on Tuesday in fact!  That means 5 weeks and we're into a New Year!!!

I came across this photo on the Adelaide Now website.  It was taken at the Blanchetown Caravan Park.  Blanchetown is a small town on the Murray River about 90 minutes from Adelaide.  The bird is a Kookaburra.  When I first looked at the photo I thought 'Wow that's a large worm," but after looking at it for a few more seconds I realised it was a brown snake.  Ugh!!!

  1. What a fun looking little shop. I love poking around in little shops like this. I think I like your Christmas weather a lot better than ours. Yours is nice and warm, ours is rather cold and sometimes with snow and ice.

    But----Spring will be back soon!

Your Kookaburra is a brave little bird catching a snake. When I was a young girl, I used to bring snakes home all the time. As an adult, I don't want anything to do with them. Ugh!

Now it's time fo me to catch some winks. You have a great night. Hugs, Edna B.
