Cadel's Tour Is Over

Thursday 19th July, 2012

It looks like Cadel Evans' Tour is over.  He has now slipped to 7th place overall, over 8 minutes behind the leader, Bradley Wiggins.  The Pyrenees became too much of an obstacle to conquer even though this is where he gained the upper hand last year to become the eventual Tour winner.

It was revealed later on that 2 hours before the start of today's stage he began to suffer from a stomach bug.  I also feel that his spirit was broken early on in the Tour when Team Sky would cover any breakaway he tried to make.  The 3rd place rider, Nibali, found that out yesterday when he tried to make a breakaway and Team Sky were upon him before he could get too far ahead.  Congratulations to them, they rode a great race and Bradley Wiggins deserves to be this years winner.

Cadel and his team mates

Bring on 2013!!!  Cadel will be back!  There's still 4 days of racing to go, I'll probably stay up and still watch it. Let's see what the Aussie bike riders can do in the Olympics, I think they'll have more success on the track than on the road.

I just heard on the radio that the young boy that was hit by lightning last Thursday has died in hospital.  What a sad time for his family and friends.  My prayers go out to them.

Nothing much has been going on in our life.  The weather hasn't been too bad, the rain seems to have disappeared for the time being.  The days have been sunny but still cold.  One thing that I have noticed is that we are getting a few extra minutes of daylight each day which means Spring is just around the corner.

  1. There really are no losers in these races. I feel that by being there and taking part, you have already won. I'm not into bike racing, but I certainly have enjoyed seeing and reading about it here. You have a great day, hugs, Edna B.
